A bathroom needs a plumber, electrician, plasterer, joiner and tiler, all in a small room, in the right order. It is where the order of trades matters most.
We strip out, alter the pipework and waste, board the walls, tank the wet areas, then tile and fit. The tanking matters more than anything you can see: it is what stops a leak behind a shower becoming a ceiling repair downstairs.
Our tilers work in natural stone, large format porcelain, patterned encaustic style tiles and classic metro, on walls and floors throughout the house.

How we build a bathroom
Strip and plan
Old suite, tiles and boards out. Pipe runs, wastes and electrics planned around your new layout.
Tank and board
Walls boarded, then the wet areas tanked with a membrane system ready for tile.
Tile
Floors levelled, tiles set out from the centre so cuts are even, then laid and grouted.
Fit and finish
Sanitaryware, brassware, lighting and extractor fitted, sealed and tested.

How long does a bathroom take?
It depends on the size of the room and the layout, and we will give you a realistic timescale before work starts. Larger rooms, layout changes and wet rooms take longer.
Do you do wet rooms?
Yes. Wet rooms need a fully tanked floor and walls and a floor laid to fall to the drain. We build them with the right system from the start.
Can you tile natural stone?
Yes. We lay limestone, travertine, slate and sandstone, sealed correctly for the room they are in.

Every room has been upgraded in our extended bungalow by Barlow Construction. It took five months of continuous work and we can only describe it as faultless, not a word we use lightly. From day one their prime concern was to make sure we got what we wanted, with quality, politeness and excellent communication. Scrubbing the new patio on the last day summed up their whole attitude.
